SERVICES RENDERED
In 2000, Hydro-Québec approached the Québec MRN (ministère des Ressources naturelles) to obtain a site possession perimeter around the Taureau and Mékinac reservoirs in the Mauricie region. Teknika HBA was entrusted with the mandate of identifying and qualifying erosion-prone zones around the reservoirs, with the aim of establishing protection areas and justifying these to the MRN. Doing so involved the following activities:
Conducting a morphosedimentological mapping of the banks of the Taureau and Mékinac reservoirs.
Identifying and analyzing existing practices and policies for establishing riparian protection areas in similar situations in Québec, i.e. where there existed a risk of erosion damage.
Determining the respective regulatory frameworks for the municipalities and regional county municipalities located on the borders of the Taureau and Mékinac reservoirs.
Determining and justifying the establishment of protection areas for erosion-prone zones around the Taureau and Mékinac reservoirs.
Issuing recommendations with regard to the technical measures necessary for implementation of the required riparian protection areas.
