Inventory of available data and data necessary to the elaboration of an environmental audit; |

Environmental audit of agro-industrial installations and review of operation and production activities (management of wastewaters, management of pesticides and fertilizers, land management, etc.); |

Inventory of the natural and social environments and analysis of the legal and institutional frameworks; |
|
Analysis of the current environmental management; |
|
Elaboration of an environmental management system ( EMS ) including an execution plan and a procedure manual based on the ISO 14001 standard; |
|
Environmental and social management plan; |
|
Detailed analysis of needs relating to airborne and environmental information (data, equipment, training); |
|
Evaluation of technical capacities and of employees; |
|
Elaboration of a Geographic and Environmental Information System oriented toward environmental
management and writing of a detailed implementation and training plan; |

Creation of a basic network for GPS use; |
|
Realization of a pilot project integrating different sources of data: satellite images, GPS surveys, topographic maps, air photographs; |

Diachronic analysis of the evolution of deforestation; |

Implementation of a GIS and EIS for the environmental monitoring of the Diecké region; |

Technical training in GIS given in Canada and support for implementation in Guinea; |

Writing of an annual report on the state of the environment. |

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1987, SOGUIPAH is a state-owned company with an agro-industrial and commercial mission. Its objective is to create oil palm and hevea tree plantations, in forestry Guinea , and the industrial processing and trading of plantation products and by-products. The company, with more than 2 000 employees, manages an industrial plantation of more than 1 500 ha of oil palm trees and 4 500 ha of hevea trees as well as an oil mill, soap factory and rubber processing plant.
The project aims at supporting SOGUIPAH in the environmental management of its activities. The project also includes a component on accompaniment measures with the intervention zone's village population which includes, among other, the implementation of family plantations, development of rice culture in shallow lands, reforestation of hills, construction of schools and health centers, etc. |
