1928: Founding of Teknika and First Major Project
Mr. Armand-Charles Crépeau and Jean-Charles Côté, founders of Teknika, built the Westbury dam and power plant in Sherbrooke. Still operational today, this power plant is part of the most important municipal electrical network in Québec: Hydro-Sherbrooke. |
1938: The First of Hundreds of Bridges!
The Comstock Bridge, constructed on Route 143 above the Massawippi River, is Teknika’s first important achievement in the field of bridge construction. Since then, the firm has designed, rehabilitated and inspected hundreds of bridges throughout Québec. |
1943: City and Village Builders
Benefiting from one of the best expertise in the treatment of drinking water and wastewaters in Québec, Teknika engineers have designed most of the waterworks, sewer and roadway infrastructures found throughout the vast Eastern Townships region. |
1951: A Large Contribution to the Development of Hospital Centers
Since 1928, Teknika has contributed to the evolution of health care in Québec through the construction, improvement and modernization of numerous hospital centers in the province. Several staff members are involved in various hospital foundations. |
1954: Construction of Université de Sherbrooke
Three Teknika pioneers (A.-C. Crépeau, J.-C. Côté & J. Lemieux) have largely contributed to the creation of Université de Sherbrooke and its Faculty of Sciences. They volunteered as deans, directors and professors in addition to having the engineering program certified by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. |
1964: Water... Always a Strength for Teknika
Over the years, Teknika has developed one of the best expertise in Québec in the pumping and treatment of drinking water and wastewaters: our engineers designed over 35 drinking water treatment plants (opposite, the J.-M.-Jeanson plant, in operation for the last 40 years), 75 wastewater treatment plants and 400 pumping stations. |
1973: Revolutions in the Retail World
Teknika has actively participated in a new era for retail business in Sherbrooke through the construction of several mega shopping centers. Among the numerous commercial establishments built by the firm, let's mention the first Steinberg (1951), Place Belvédère and Carrefour de l’Estrie. |
1980: The Era of Highways
Teknika has designed the major axial highways in the Eastern Townships and was a forefront participant in the successful elaboration and construction of both Highways 10 and 55. |
1984: Teknika Becomes an Industrial Partner
Over time, Teknika’s expertise in the industrial sector evolved significantly in order to serve and advise several major clients such as Bombardier Aerospace and Transportation, Domtar Inc., IBM, Trebor, Graymont, American Biltrite Inc., etc. |
1998: The Beauty of Cultural and Recreational Projects
Concerned with the well-being and quality of life of citizens, Teknika has realized many community parks, bicycle paths and playgrounds of all types, including more than 30 million dollars in projects since 1996 at Granby Zoo and its water park. |
1999: Our Team Grows: New Services and Territories
Teknika has grown over the years through the integration of several firms. Brisson et Latendresse in Sherbrooke (1980), Dumas, Tremblay, Lasalle inc. in Granby (1986), Sogestec inc. in Victoriaville (1998), Les Laboratoires Shermont in Sherbrooke (1999), Groupe-conseil Tredec inc. in Montréal (1999) as well as Les Laboratoires Laviolette in Trois-Rivières (2000) have spear-headed Teknika toward excellence, year after year. |
2001: The Pride of Teknika: Grandiose Projects
Teknika professionals developed an enviable expertise in the elaboration and design of large-scale concert halls. Most notable is our collaboration with Scéno Plus on the structure of the Colosseum, the new Las Vegas palace featuring Céline Dion's show. |
2004-2005: Teknika and Groupe HBA Become Teknika HBA
Teknika and Groupe HBA joined forces in 2004 to become Teknika HBA. Followed in 2005, Comtois Poupart in Joliette, Fondex Outaouais, Fondex des Hautes-Rivières and Agence d'urbanisme de l'Outaouais in Gatineau. |
