The mechanical and electrical works focused on the following:
| - |
Heating, by optimizing use of electricity and natural gas so as to limit capital, operating and maintenance costs. |
| - |
Ventilation and air-conditioning, while taking into consideration future production and laboratory equipment loads. |
| - |
Flexibility in terms of sanitary services, compressed air supply, and electrical services in the room where
major and specialized equipment would be installed and stored. |
| - |
Appropriate point of service location and size, with the aim of maintaining transparency and flexibility for the development of laboratories and addition of new services. |
| - |
Sophisticated variable volume control system ("Phoenix") for laboratories, as a means of optimizing energy consumption. |
| - |
High-quality air diffusers, as a means of improving air quality. |

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project was two-phased. The first involved building a 1 400 m² area with a maximum overhead clearance of 11 metres, for installing major equipment, and the second, the construction of abutting spaces, over four floors, for laboratories and researcher offices. The entire space represented nearly 5 000 m². |
